Be Beautiful
Even if I have the wrong ways of showing it, I want the best for every single person I’ve ever encountered. I want you all to be good people. I want you all to live good lives. I want you all to feel the rush of accomplishment and the comfort of being loved by someone. I want everyone to scratch things off their to-do lists. I want everyone to pause in admiration of beautiful landscapes, beautiful people, and beautiful situations. And, I want everyone to turn the frustrations and face-plants that come before those successes into fuel.
We may differ in views. We may differ in practices. We may differ in execution, interpretation, and definitions of regret. But I hope your life satisfies you. I hope your children cherish you. I hope your families hate you and then love you and then hate you and then still love you. I hope that even when the light at the end of the tunnel extinguishes, you pretend it’s there and find the motivation to seek it out.
Life is beautiful! People are beautiful! This journey is beautiful! I give a lot of grief to a lot of people. But that’s just good time management because I’m hoping it razzes them enough to open their eyes or questions them enough to confirm, within themselves, that I’m the idiot and they are doing the right thing. I’ve never minded looking like an idiot, as you all can attest to
Merry day! Merry life! Merry family! May tomorrow be a day that you appreciate everything you have and have done. Or, may tomorrow be the day you see what you still want and need to accomplish. My only want for each of you is that you get the determination to do all that. It’s worth it.
Failures, depression, bad weather, and heartaches are all temporary. The pendulum swings the other way on each of those. Life balances itself out. And when it doesn’t, we’re here to balance each other out. Be someone’s counterweight. Be someone’s reminder. Be someone’s strength. Be someone’s thorn in their side. Be the thing that makes them smile, makes them pause, makes them think, or makes them grateful to be a part of this ceremony.
And when life fails them, be someone’s beautiful.
